The Beginning of the Good News of Jesus
Like the rapid fire of cascading fireworks, the author of Mark in his opening chapters draws his readers into the many activities that make up the beginning of Jesus’ ministry giving us an insight into the character of Jesus (and ultimately of God) and his idea of the Good News. Through our reflections on this remarkable Gospel we too are drawn into a new season of Lenten reflections at our blog: Lenten Block Party : Voices From Our Neighbourhoods. Please come and join us!
Because the author of Mark does pack so much into his opening chapters our bloggers have had to narrow their focus on a few items. Peter Wyatt reflects on the meanings of “Good News” in relation to Jesus’ message, as well as Jesus as a person. Susanne VanderLugt reflects on Jesus’ formative desert experience and how the way of God’s people has been and continues to be through the desert.
As you join with us as we make our way to Jerusalem this Lenten season with Jesus in the Gospel of Mark, how does Gospel or Good News illumine your life whether your path takes your through fertile valleys or seemingly sterile desert?
We wish you the blessing of insightful growth as we walk with Jesus this Lent.
Godspeed,
Norm Hennig-Pereira.
